TIPPERARY’s Greg Broderick got off to a good start in Vilamoura last week when he took the runner-up place in Wednesday’s two-star 1.45m class.

Riding Kerry Anne McCahill’s Westbrook, Broderick delivered a double clear in a time of 33.34 seconds, less than a second off the winner, Brazil’s João Victor Castro and the stallion Bibenbreaker who were clear in 32.97.

The results continued for Ballypatrick Stables when Broderick’s student Rosalie Biedron (USA) and Charmeur claimed sixth place in Thursday’s Table A 1.35m when finishing with four faults in a time of 60.36.

Biedron had earlier led the victory lap in the 1.30m two-phase when she delivered a clear with LVS Wizard (ISH) in a time of 24.34. Broderick also featured in this line-up, taking seventh with Ballypatrick Flamenco (0/ 36.19).

Max O’Reilly Hyland was also in the ribbons when winning Thursday’s  Table A. Riding his own Enigma, he lodged the winning round in 29.13 seconds, and followed up with a second place the following day.

The following day, the pair had to settle for second in the , when they delivered a clear in 31.29, behind Britain’s James Smith.

The final Ballypatrick result on the same day came in the 1.35m when American rider Veronica Tracy, also based at the Tipperary stable, won the class aboard her own Daify.
